At Dynamic Lifestyle our mission is clear: to enrich lives, strengthen communities, and empower individuals by creating opportunities for health, activity, and wellbeing. But where did this all begin? For Director Elaine Maughan, the journey is deeply personal – rooted in family values, lived experiences, and a commitment to making a difference.
A family-first approach to wellbeing
Growing up, Elaine’s family placed a strong emphasis on opportunity and togetherness.
“As a family, we were always encouraged to try new activities, to discover what we enjoyed and where we excelled—all while keeping active,”
Mealtimes were a cornerstone of her upbringing, with home-cooked meals shared around the table most evenings and certainly every Sunday.
Elaine credits this nurturing environment for instilling values like kindness, integrity, education, and opportunity – values that now underpin the philosophy of Dynamic Lifestyle.
“We were lucky to have a healthy upbringing without major challenges. But I know that not everyone is as fortunate. That’s why Dynamic Lifestyle exists: to create opportunities for those who haven’t had them.”
Recognising gaps in the system
Reflecting on her school years, Elaine remembers a time when sporting activities were limited and opportunities were often divided by gender.
“Sport was so generic back then – netball for girls, football for boys. There wasn’t much else available after school.”
Today, through its partnerships with schools and delivery partners, Dynamic Lifestyle aims to open the door to a diverse range of activities, giving every child the chance to find their passion and stay active.
But Dynamic Lifetstyle’s mission doesn’t stop at children. Elaine highlights other critical gaps in community provision, such as:
- Loneliness in older generations: Addressing isolation and promoting social connections.
- Preventative education: Empowering individuals to make informed choices about nutrition, balance, and long-term health.
- Access to funding: Connecting communities with untapped resources to provide free or subsidised services.
The path to Dynamic Lifestyle
Elaine’s professional journey has been diverse. With over 20 years in the construction industry—most recently managing manufacturing businesses – she developed skills in relationship-building, tender writing, and strategic leadership.
Her commitment to giving back started 15 years ago when she began mentoring small businesses through the Prince’s Trust. More recently, she has supported local food banks and charities. Dynamic Lifestyle was born from this ethos of service.
“If we can open the door for even a few people who’ve lacked opportunities, that’s a reward in itself.”
Building healthier communities together
Dynamic Lifestyle is much more than a service provider; it’s a platform for transformation.
Elaine and the team envision a community where everyone – regardless of age, background, or ability – can access the resources they need to thrive.
“I have a friend in his 90s whose balance and loneliness have become his challenge in recent years and the community support is limited”
The Dynamic Lifestyle Mission
At its core, Dynamic Lifestyle is about:
- Inclusion for all: Programmes that cater to every age, gender, and demographic.
- Bridging gaps: Identifying and addressing areas where communities need support – whether through activities, nutrition, or wellbeing initiatives.
- Empowering individuals: Providing the tools and knowledge for people to make informed decisions about their health and longevity.
“We were lucky to come from a family that believed in creating opportunities. Dynamic Lifestyle is our way of passing that on – giving a little something back.”
Dynamic Lifestyle isn’t just a vision; it’s a movement. By bringing together communities, unlocking funding, and empowering individuals, Dynamic Lifestyle is energising lives and enriching families – one opportunity at a time.
